The Royal Cities of Asia
We are currently working on a series of books exploring the history, culture and artistic traditions of some of Asia's greatest Royal Cities.
Work on several volumes is already under way, with research, writing and photography well advanced. CPAmedia is seeking a publisher or co-publisher for these titles. If you're interested and would like to receive further details, please contact us.
The concept behind Royal Cities of Asia is to produce a series of beautifully bound, high quality volumes that combine authoritative text with world-class photography. With both the visual appeal of a traditional "coffee table" book and detailed historical and cultural information aimed at an informed and enquiring readership, the series is designed to appeal to both the travelling public and academic readers alike.
Books on famous royal and imperial cities such as China's Beijing, Thailand's Ayutthaya and India's Agra are many. Yet most tend to ignore the surrounding imperial adjuncts such as royal tombs, thoroughfares and the other trappings of imperial greatness. Moreover, many such books are firmly rooted in the past, providing accurate and colourful historical records of royal cities as they were.
Royal Cities of Asia seeks to correct this imbalance by emphasising the totality of Asia's many and varied royal cities, including fascinating details of traditional culture such as the musical arts, dance, theatre, painting and poetry, as well as the history and architecture of the cities in question. Moreover the story does not end there, but is continued through to the present day, providing vivid descriptions and illustrations of Asia's Royal Cities as they are today, together with images and descriptions of the lifestyles of their people.
